The compound circulates in the literature as a research reagent rather than an approved therapeutic. Regulatory agencies in several countries have not authorized it for medical use, and sporting bodies list related thymosin beta-4 peptides among prohibited substances. Suppliers typically market it with a purity figure and a certificate of analysis, while peer-reviewed clinical reports remain sparse. Discussions therefore often separate laboratory findings from anecdotal reports, and reviewers tend to note the small size and methodological limits of the available studies.
TB-500 refers to a synthetic peptide fragment derived from the actin-binding region of thymosin beta-4, a protein present in most mammalian cells. The full protein contains forty-three amino acids, while the commonly sold fragment is a much shorter acetylated sequence, often cited as LKKTETQ. The fragment retains part of the actin-binding motif but lacks the remainder of the parent protein. Material sold under this name is usually lyophilized powder intended for laboratory research, and it is not a finished pharmaceutical product.
Identity and purity are normally assessed with reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography, paired with mass spectrometry to confirm molecular mass. A certificate of analysis reports a purity percentage, usually derived from chromatographic peak area, but that figure does not by itself prove a correct sequence or the absence of counterions. Independent verification may include amino acid analysis or peptide mapping. Batch-to-batch variation is a documented concern in the research chemical market, and the gap between a quoted purity value and actual peptide content can be substantial when the material is a salt or retains residual water.
Lyophilized peptide arrives as a dry cake that should stay sealed until use. Reconstitution is generally performed with sterile water or a buffered solution, and the resulting liquid should be handled gently to limit mechanical stress. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles are widely described as harmful to short peptides, so dividing a reconstituted batch into single-use portions is a common practice. Laboratories also record the solvent, concentration, and date of preparation on the vial label to keep later measurements traceable.
Dry powder is commonly held at minus twenty degrees Celsius, with some suppliers recommending lower temperatures for long-term archival storage. Once dissolved, solutions are typically kept cold and protected from light, since aqueous peptide solutions can lose integrity through hydrolysis or oxidation over time. Stability data specific to this fragment are limited in the public literature, and much of the guidance comes from general peptide handling practice rather than from controlled degradation studies. Users therefore treat stated shelf lives as approximate rather than fixed.

The fragment most often associated with the name carries the sequence Ac-LKKTETQ, matching residues 17 through 23 of thymosin beta-4. That region holds the actin-binding motif responsible for much of the parent protein's biochemical activity. Apart from N-terminal acetylation the peptide is unmodified and contains no disulfide bonds, so it shows little ordered secondary structure in solution. Full-length thymosin beta-4 is instead a 43-residue polypeptide of roughly 4.9 kDa found widely across mammalian cell types.
Material sold under this label typically arrives as a freeze-dried powder in a sealed vial with a certificate of analysis. Such certificates usually report reversed-phase chromatography purity plus a mass confirmation, and stated purities commonly sit between 95 and 99 percent. Counter-ion identity, residual trifluoroacetate, water content, and peptide net weight are separate specifications that a certificate may or may not include. A purity figure alone does not establish sequence identity, so independent mass verification remains the practical check.
The designation TB-500 circulates in laboratory and catalog contexts without a single agreed definition. Most product listings apply it to an N-terminally acetylated seven-residue fragment of thymosin beta-4, while other listings attach the same label to the full 43-residue protein. Because the term is commercial rather than systematic, two entries bearing identical names may describe different molecules. Any documentation should therefore state which sequence a given sample is claimed to contain.
Controlled human trials of the short fragment are scarce. Much of what appears in review articles is extrapolated from animal models or from studies of the parent protein, and literature searches return a larger body of cardiac and ophthalmic work on thymosin beta-4 than on the abbreviated peptide. Regulatory treatment differs by jurisdiction, and in several countries the material is handled as a research chemical rather than an approved therapeutic. Statements about human benefit should be read as provisional.
Biological interest in this peptide centers on its relationship to actin dynamics. Thymosin beta-4 binds monomeric actin through an LKKTET motif, and a short sequence carrying that motif can compete with other actin-binding proteins in cell-free preparations. Investigators propose that such competition shifts the balance between filament assembly and disassembly, which in turn affects how readily a cell extends protrusions and migrates. Most of the supporting observations come from cultured cells and purified protein systems rather than from intact organisms.
Thymosin beta-4 itself is a small, widely expressed protein that sequesters monomeric actin and participates in cell migration, angiogenesis, and tissue repair. Researchers have examined the shortened fragment as a possible mimic of some of these activities, reasoning that the actin-binding motif lies within the first few residues. Binding to monomeric actin has been observed in cell-free systems. Whether the fragment reproduces the broader effects of the full protein in living tissue remains an open question, and findings from animal models are frequently cited without a clear bridge to human physiology.
Discussion of TB-500 appears in several distinct literatures that rarely cite one another. Peer-reviewed studies usually describe in vitro assays or small animal experiments and are cautious about extrapolation. Veterinary and sports communities circulate anecdotal reports with limited methodological detail. Commercial listings add a third layer, often using the name interchangeably with thymosin beta-4 even though the two molecules differ in size and sequence. Regulatory status varies by country, and the compound is not a licensed medicine in most jurisdictions, so readers comparing sources should check which molecule and which purity each source actually describes.
The National Institutes of Health has defined a biomarker as "a characteristic that is objectively measured and evaluated as an indicator of normal biological processes, pathogenic processes, or pharmacologic responses to a therapeutic intervention." Understanding the proteome, the structure and function of each protein and the complexities of protein–protein interactions are critical for developing the most effective diagnostic techniques and disease treatments in the future. For example, proteomics is highly useful in the identification of candidate biomarkers (proteins in body fluids that are of value for diagnosis), identification of the bacterial antigens that are targeted by the immune response, and identification of possible immunohistochemistry markers of infectious or neoplastic diseases. An interesting use of proteomics is using specific protein biomarkers to diagnose disease. A number of techniques allow to test for proteins produced during a particular disease, which helps to diagnose the disease quickly. Techniques include western blot, immunohistochemical staining, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) or mass spectrometry. Secretomics, a subfield of proteomics that studies secreted proteins and secretion pathways using proteomic approaches, has recently emerged as an important tool for the discovery of biomarkers of disease.
=== Relative biological effectiveness === After World War II, the concept of tolerance dose was replaced by that of maximum permissible dose and the concept of relative biological effectiveness was introduced. The limit was set in 1956 by the National Council on Radiation Protection & Measurements (NCRP) and the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) at 5 rem (50 mSv) per year for radiation workers and 0.5 rem per year for the general population. The unit Rem as a physical measure of radiation dose (from the English roentgen equivalent in man) was replaced by the unit Sv (sievert) in 1978. This was due to the advent of nuclear energy and its associated dangers. Prior to 1991, the equivalent dose was used both as a measure of dose and as a term for the body dose that determines the course and survival of radiation sickness. ICRP Publication 60 introduced the radiation weighting factor
Developing isotopic reference materials specifically for clumped isotope analysis remains an ongoing goal of this rapidly developing field and was a major discussion topic during the 6th International Clumped Isotopes Workshop in 2017. It is possible that researchers in the future will measure clumped isotope ratios against internationally distributed reference materials, similar to the current method of measuring the bulk isotope composition of unknown samples.

=== Decreased lactose content === During the fermentation process, bacteria and yeast break lactose down into glucose and galactose. As a result of the fermentation, lactose levels are decreased by 20–30% with respect to the initial lactose levels present in the milk. One study found that when people with lactose intolerance consumed the same amount of lactose in milk, kefir or yogurt products, the latter two showed significantly reduced symptoms of lactose intolerance during the first 8 hours after consumption. This result suggests that yogurt and kefir might be suitable for people with lactose intolerance. However, the long-term impact of kefir consumption on lactose intolerance has not been studied. It has also been shown that fermented milk products have a slower transit time than milk, which may further improve lactose digestion.

Galip Asvat, a successful hair salon business owner, is a gay man born in Klerksdorp. He moved to Hillbrow, which was a haven for the LGBTQ community, in the early 2000s. One early morning in 2007, Asvat was ambushed and raped by three men in his apartment building. On his attack, he said, "They thought I was a woman, and when they found out I was a man, that's when they became even more violent." His beating was brutal, and the gang of men nearly cut off his genitals. Sizakele Sigasa, a lesbian activist living in Soweto, and her partner Salome Masooa were raped, tortured, and murdered in July 2007. South African lesbian-gay rights organizations, including the umbrella-group Joint Working Group, said the attack was driven by lesbophobia. Two other rape/murders of lesbians occurred in South Africa earlier in Summer 2007: Simangele Nhlapo, member of an HIV-positive support group was raped and murdered in June, along with her two-year-old daughter; and Madoe Mafubedu, age 16, was raped and stabbed to death. On 28 April 2008, 31-year-old soccer player Eudy Simelane was abducted, gang-raped and killed in KwaThema, her hometown near Johannesburg. Simelane was a star of the South Africa's acclaimed Banyana Banyana national female football squad, an avid equality rights campaigner, and one of the first women to live openly as a lesbian in KwaThema. On 24 April 2011, LGBTQ activist Noxolo Nogwaza was raped and murdered in KwaThema. In 2013, two writers from South African men's magazine FHM were fired as a result of corrective rape jokes they made on Facebook.
probe Any reagent used to make a single measurement in a biochemical assay such as a gene expression experiment. Molecules which have a specific affinity for one or more other molecules may be used to probe for the presence of those other molecules in samples of unknown composition. Probes are often labelled or otherwise used as reporters to indicate whether or not a specific chemical reaction is taking place. See also hybridization probe.
Romanian cuisine has been influenced by Austrian and German cuisine (especially in the historical regions that had been formerly administered by the Habsburg monarchy), but also shares some similarities with other cuisines in the Balkan region such as Greek, Bulgarian, and Serbian cuisine. Ciorbă includes a wide range of sour soups, while mititei, mămăligă (similar to polenta), and sarmale are featured commonly in main courses. Pork, chicken, and beef are the preferred types of meat, but lamb and fish are also quite popular. Certain traditional recipes are made in direct connection with the holidays: chiftele, tobă and tochitură at Christmas; drob, pască and cozonac at Easter and other Romanian holidays. Țuică is a strong plum brandy reaching a 70% alcohol content which is the country's traditional alcoholic beverage, taking as much as 75% of the national crop (Romania is one of the largest plum producers in the world). Traditional alcoholic beverages also include wine, rachiu, palincă and vișinată, but beer consumption has increased dramatically over recent years. In 2019, Romania became the country with the highest alcohol consumption per capita.
The Cossacks are a predominantly East Slavic, Eastern Orthodox Christian militant people, originating from the Pontic–Caspian steppe of eastern Ukraine and southern Russia. Cossacks played an important role in defending the southern borders of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and of the Russian Empire, countering the Crimean–Nogai raids, alongside economically developing steppe regions north of the Black Sea and around the Azov Sea. Historically, they were a semi-nomadic and semi-militarized people, who were allowed a great degree of self-governance in exchange for military service under the nominal suzerainty of various Eastern European states. Although numerous ethnic, linguistic and religious groups came together to form the Cossacks, the East Slavs predominated, with other groups gradually coalesced and Slavicized, thereby adopting East Slavic culture, East Slavic languages and Eastern Orthodox Christianity. The rulers of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and Russian Empire endowed Cossacks with certain special privileges in return for the military duty to serve in the irregular troops: Zaporozhian Cossacks were mostly infantry soldiers, using war wagons, while Don Cossacks were primarily cavalry soldiers. The various Cossack groups organized along military lines, with large autonomous groups called hosts. Each host was responsible for protecting a territory consisting of affiliated villages called stanitsas.

=== 2010s === Stanton was elected into the Essendon leadership group for the 2010 season. Stanton amassed 477 possessions and kicked 13 goals in 20 games for an Essendon team which won seven matches and lost fifteen in a year that would see their coach, Matthew Knights, sacked one day after the conclusion of the regular season. Stanton polled six votes in the Brownlow Medal and finished fifth in the 2010 Crichton Medal with 167 votes. Stanton continued to improve during the year. Stanton led the club in kicks and handballs received and was in the top five for marks, handballs, inside-50s, rebound-50s and loose-ball gets. Into his ninth AFL season and in the Essendon leadership group, Stanton finished second in the 2011 Crichton Medal behind David Zaharakis. He played his 150th AFL game against Melbourne in Round 11. Wearing the number 5, his running and ability to accumulate possessions contributed to every victory during the 2012 season. He has now polled a career high 14 votes in the 2012 Brownlow Medal. In Round 6 of the 2012 AFL season, Stanton collected a record 193 Dream Team points in Essendon's win against the Brisbane Lions at Docklands Stadium. His statistics included: 39 disposals (from 32 kicks and 7 handballs), 17 marks and 8 tackles. As of 2015, it remains the highest Dream Team score by a midfielder. Stanton played his 200th game in Round 20, 2013 against West Coast at Etihad Stadium.
=== Sexual dysfunction === There is no evidence that yohimbe herbal supplements are effective as an aphrodisiac or as an OTC replacement for sildenafil (Viagra) for erectile dysfunction. Prescriptions for it are rare, and most United States pharmaceutical manufacturers have discontinued production of prescription capsules and tablets. In Canada during 2019, yohimbe products were removed from the market out of concern their use for sexual enhancement, weight loss, or as an exercise aid would pose serious health risks. It has been studied as a potential treatment for erectile dysfunction, but there is insufficient evidence to rate its effectiveness. Nevertheless, the quantity of yohimbine in dietary supplements, often advertised as promoting sexual function, has been found to overlap with prescription doses of yohimbine. In the United Kingdom, supplement preparations of yohimbe are banned as introducing a considerable risk for adverse effects. The drug form of yohimbine, called Yohimbine hydrochloride (yohimbine HCl) – which is not licensed as a medicine for any condition – may rarely and specifically be compounded by a pharmacist ("chemist" in the UK) as a prescription-only medicine for treating delayed ejaculation – a formulation that cannot be sold, supplied or advertised as a retail product. Yohimbine has been used to treat female sexual dysfunction, but there are few reported clinical trials and these do not show it to be better than placebo.
== Origin of the word "Radurisation" == The word "radurisation" is derived from radura, combining the initial letters of the word "radiation" with the stem of "durus", the Latin word for hard, lasting.

TB-500 is a name used for a short synthetic peptide fragment taken from the actin-binding region of thymosin beta-4. Material sold under this label is usually a lyophilized powder supplied for laboratory research rather than a licensed medicine. The commonly cited sequence is LKKTETQ.
The parent protein contains forty-three amino acids, while the fragment carries only a short motif from one region. The fragment can interact with actin in vitro, but it does not include the rest of the protein structure. Whether the shorter molecule behaves the same way in living systems is not settled.
Published controlled human studies are scarce, and most activity reports come from cell culture or animal models. Reviews often describe the evidence base as limited and methodologically uneven. Open questions include the relationship between route, dose, and measured outcomes.
Dry lyophilized powder is usually kept frozen, desiccated, and out of direct light. Sealed vials are not opened until needed, because moisture uptake can degrade short peptides. Longer archival storage is often done at lower temperatures than routine working stock.
